Strike, Dance & Rise!!!

On February 14, The S4 Foundation will celebrate love and show their support for persons affected by domestic violence as they call for an end to violence against women.  The S4 Foundation will join with activists from 196 countries for “One Billion Rising,” a global event gathering millions of persons. S4 partners with V-Day (a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls) – to bring this international event to Guyana.

s41The Event:

“One Billion Rising” began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls. On February 14, 2013, V-Day’s 15th anniversary, the S4 Foundation will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and women and men across the world as we express our outrage, demand change; strike, dance and rise in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.

Time: 4:30 -6:30 p.m.

Venue:  Promenade Gardens.

“All over the world women – and those who care about them – have been rising up to demand an end to the pervasive violence against women. In Egypt the rising was instigated by an atrocious gang rape, in Pakistan it was when a young girl was shot in the head just because she wanted an education and in Ireland it was when a woman died because she was refused a lifesaving abortion procedure. In Guyana, we are all too familiar with the widespread and appallingly cruel violence against women in the nation – and now it is time for Guyana to rise.” – Stella Ramsaroop, Founder of the S4 Foundation.

All are invited to attend this event. Let’s Strike, Dance & Rise to spread the message of zero tolerance for violence against women.

About the S4 Foundation:

S4 stands for Stella’s Sisterhood of Support and Service. The S4Foundation is a national movement of Sisterhood. The mission of the S4 Foundation is to create a network of women who are committed to helping and supporting other women in Guyana. Every day we see Sisters who are hurting, or lonely or broken in spirit and most times we do nothing to help. S4’s goal is simply to encourage women to please make the time to help a Sister.
